Client Profile: Christina
Get to know some of our clients that make Wattage feel like home! Each month we will post a new client with some interesting facts about themselves and their training experience.
Our client Christina couldn’t pass up the opportunity to “out-showcase” her twin brother Anthony from last month’s Client Profile! Read below to see how she answered our questions.
Client: Christina Ewing
Trainer: Brittany Adams
What initially brought you to Wattage?
I work across the street and would walk by every day- the facility is so beautiful. I just had to come in and train.
Can you tell us about your fitness journey?
I have been a yoga enthusiast for nearly 20 years. My flexibility became a liability about 8 years ago. I was so hyper mobile that I was constantly hurting myself. I started strength training twice a week 3 years ago and it has been the perfect compliment to my yoga practice.
Are you currently training for a specific goal?
I’m 39 now, so I’m starting to really focus on keeping my body built to last. As a woman, strong bone density will continue to become more and more important to me, and I know lifting helps with that. I’m also trying to out-lift my twin brother, Anthony, who also trains at Wattage!
Is there anything that you have learned from your trainer that you were surprised by?
Yes! My balance has never been a strong point for me, and Brittany picked up on that. She brilliantly discovered that much of it has to do with me having very high arches. She does a clever trick with a towel under just the outside of my foot to help me essentially have more surface area of my foot on the floor when I am doing exercises that require me to balance on one foot. It helps with balance. This was a stroke of genius to me.
What do you do for a living?
I’m a mortgage loan officer. I help people get loans to purchase homes!
What do you love best about your job?
I love the flexibility. My job is commission only, so it is much like being self-employed. I’m pretty much always working, but I can choose when and where I do that, to a large degree. I also love helping people with what is typically the largest financial transaction that they are ever part of. It’s a big deal!
Is there any advice you would give to someone thinking about starting their fitness journey at Wattage?
Don’t wait- do it now! The facility is so clean and spacious. I was actually nervous to start with one-on-one training. I didn’t know if I’d want ALL the attention on me for a whole hour. But the trainers are all so nice and disarming- they are WONDERFUL people that also happen to be master trainers. Brittany can identify and focus specifically on my weak spots. This is what really keeps me feeling healthy.
Can you give us a good blog, podcast, or book recommendation?
I only do mortgages, yoga, workout, and sleep. 😊
Time to brag! What accomplishments are you most proud of (outside or inside of the gym)?
I’m proud that I can say at 39 years old that I am in the best shape of my life- by a lot. I never expected that. Wattage has been a HUGE part of that. I have been feeling awesome and have been injury free since I started training at Wattage.
What are you up to outside of the gym (hobbies, family, friends, work, etc)?
I’m trying to see every country in the world before I die – it’s a lofty goal, but why not shoot for the stars, right?! My husband and I only count countries that we have been to together. We’ve been married 10 years and have been to 32 countries, so we are on a pretty good clip!
