  • What initially brought you to Wattage?

    • I learned about Wattage through searching for gyms in Chicago that support several alternative methodologies I was interested in… XPT, performance breathing, and functional movement to name a few.

  • Can you tell us about your fitness journey? How did being a triathlete affect your life?

    • I have been an athlete my whole life.  I played soccer through college and spent 10+ years in competitive triathlons after college.  Endurance sports gave me a true appreciation for the solitude of training… a lot of long miles, early mornings, and nobody to motivate you but yourself.  This was very unique and somewhat refreshing to me, being someone who was on team sports my whole life.

  • Are you currently training for a specific event/goal?

    • My goals is to build a deeper sense of “total fitness” including increasing my strength and mobility, incorporating breathwork into more parts of my day, and realizing the benefits of nutrition, sleep, and mobility on my quality of life.

  • Is there anything that you have learned from your trainer that you were surprised by?

    • Aaron is always reminding me that I can do more… In particular, he reminds me that I can lift more -- which has greatly improved my ability to increase strength and feel really confident in my movements.

  • What do you do for a living?

    • I am in management consulting.  A lot of my work is focussed on improving the way we learn as adults.

  • What do you love best about your job?

    • I love so much about what I do -- but mostly, I love the ability to tell the story of our growing company through content creation.

  • Is there any advice you would give to someone thinking about starting their fitness journey at Wattage?

    • There is real power in 1-1 personal training.  Fully commit to at least 6 months if you are going to invest in a trainer at Wattage… The progress you make with a consistent 1-1 schedule is remarkable at around 6 months, you will have a great relationship with your trainer, and start to see changes in yourself that you might not have seen at 3 or 4 months.  I have never looked back since I signed up with Aaron, Wattage is such an exciting place to go to once a week, and I intend on training at Wattage for a long time.

  • Tell us how you use breathwork in your life.

    • I am currently using it about 20min into my daily  1-hr meditation… it absolutely lights my meditation on fire, allows me to go so much deeper with the connection to my body and my heart.  I am also using it to recover after hard sessions or long days.  The next step will be to learn how to use performance breathing “before” a workout as a way to prime my movements.  So much to learn!

  • You went to one of those XPT events in Hawaii with Gabby Reece and Laird Hamilton (and Aaron). What was that experience like?  Is that something you would recommend to other clients?

    • It was incredible… it completely changed the way I think about training and really got me closer to a deep understanding of my body, the power of breathwork and ice therapy… it was like I was in “fitness heaven” for a week and I didn’t want to leave... highly recommended!!

  • Can you give us a good blog, podcast, or book recommendation?

    • Inward by Yung Pueblo
